Ross Group Engineering worked with a private client in Texas to provide a front-end engineering design (FEED) and report for a data center pilot project. Sized for 300kW of electricity generation and co-located with a wellsite operated by a separate natural resources firm, the proposed data center could be powered by either a natural gas-powered generator or fuel cell sized for 350kW, with additional equipment powered via carbon capture methods. The FEED study explored the technical feasibility of the proposed work and provided budgetary cost estimates to complete the innovative project.

Our team delivered a preliminary design for the carbon capture process, storage, and offloading equipment. In addition, we evaluated multiple technologies from major equipment suppliers to select the most cost-effective and efficient carbon capture method, with a detailed process flow diagram and site layout plan demonstrating the optimal configuration for the equipment. After a detailed analysis, Ross Group Engineering recommended two proven carbon capture technologies, including the best carbon capture processing system and the best combustion-driven power generation option to meet the client’s energy goals.
