For this ECP project, Ross Group expanded the compressor station with one 2500hp electric drive reciprocating compressor. This compressor increased the facility through-put from 30 MMSCFD to 40 MMSCFD.

Auxiliary systems of H2S scavenger injections were added and tied into the existing programmable logic controller (PLC) system. A new variable frequency drive was installed and the site’s incoming power was upgraded by adding a 14.4KV transformer.

In addition, the existing building needed to be modified, as the new compressor footprint was significantly larger than the existing 1500hp electric drive compressors. This required our team to expand the building, increasing its size to accommodate the new compressor.
The design effort included civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrument, and electrical engineering. A preliminary design package was provided, along with an Issue for Construction (IFC) package, including plans and specifications. The engineering team completed a CADWorx 3D design model, as well as process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). The team also performed piping stress and hydraulic calculations on an as-needed basis.
