The existing compressor station contained three 1,500hp electric drive reciprocating compressor units. The project scope increased the capacity of the facility from 15 MMSCFD to 30 MMSCFD with the addition of three additional 1,500hp compressor units. The new units were housed in a new pre-engineered metal building and a new flare system was installed to handle the facility’s increased capacity.

The design effort included civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrument, and electrical engineering.  A preliminary design package was provided, along with an Issue for construction package. These packages included plans and specifications.

A 3D design model was completed, as well as PFDs and P&IDs. Piping stress and hydraulic calculations were done on an as-needed basis.  The engineer provided a Bill of Material and construction administration services, including site visits, as-built drawings, and technical support.

This project provided opportunity to overcome design challenges since the existing facility had inaccurate record drawings, requiring the engineering effort to include verifying the facility documentation manually. This compressor station expansion project was the third with this client, whom with we have developed a solid partnership.
