About the Project

This project at the Midland Courthouse constructed a new 3,100 sq. ft. sally port and prisoner elevator for the U.S. Marshal’s Service, renovated the second floor of the courthouse, and provided exterior security improvements.

The sally port and prisoner elevator were new construction elements added to the exterior of the existing courthouse, while the second-floor renovation provided new administrative offices for the U.S. Marshals Service. Restroom improvements and a new cell block with holding cells and interview rooms were also included in the renovation. New flooring and acoustical ceilings were provided for the office area, as well as updated finishes and fixtures.

As the Government occupied the facility during the entire period of construction, work required complex construction phasing and was carefully coordinated to avoid disturbing federal judges and U.S. marshals.
